Frequently asked questions.
How much should I pay for my therapy session?
A 1-on-1 counselling or therapy session costs AUD125 per session for Australian clients. Students get a discounted price of AUD85 for individual therapy. If you are wondering what goes behind the costs of therapy, your comfy therapist uses their time outside your sessions to plan for your sessions. They undergo clinical supervision with their supervisor and professional development to ensure great practice and ethical conduct!
If you are interested in making an appointment with Comfy Counselling and outside of Australia, please send a message in the Contact Us section down below in the Book an Appointment page! We will provide you with a pricing that matches with the country you are in.
What would my first therapy session look like?
In your first session, your comfy therapist would like to get to know you by learning your background and your motivations for therapy. Your comfy therapist will first go through the confidentiality agreement and how they work with you in therapy. This is a wonderful time for you to ask us any questions as it’ll be important to know whether we are a good fit for each other. It’s paramount that you are comfy in this space!
Having said that, there may be times where you feel uncomfortable given the nature of how heavy some topics can be. Your comfy therapist will try their best to make this a safe and nonjudgmental space for you, so feel free to share however much you want! Ideally, we would make time for you to have some initial strategies for you to take away from your first session. We may not have the answers to everything as soon as we want them, so it is important to remind ourselves to be gentle with ourselves.
Therapy is about finding and becoming the you that you want to be whether we have the answers or not!
How would my sessions look like if I am a parent looking for guidance on raising my child?
If you're new to therapy, you might be surprised at how much these sessions focus on you as a parent and individual. To effectively support you in raising your child, your Comfy therapist will explore your family dynamics, communication patterns between you and your child, and your own attachment style. Together, you'll gain insights into the neurochemistry behind gaming, strengthen your connection with your child, and establish healthier boundaries.

Do I require a diagnosis beforehand? Will I get a diagnosis from you?
You will not need a diagnosis to attend a therapy session with your comfy therapist! You will not get a diagnosis from them either. Comfy Counselling does not focus on your diagnosis as we focus on you because you are so much more than your diagnosis! We provide talk therapy, so we would support you with gaining a better understanding of your emotions, coping with stress and identifying your barriers to the meaningful life that you deserve.
